At Nisai, we work in partnership with local education authorities (LEAs) across England and Wales to ensure that children and young people have access to high-quality, inclusive education. We recognise that every local authority has a duty to meet the needs of learners in its area, including those who are not able to attend mainstream school. Our role as your chosen online school is to provide flexible, accredited online learning that complements the education offered by schools, councils, and children’s services.

Schools and local authorities across England face rising demand for alternative education. Many children and young people cannot access mainstream school due to special educational needs, disabilities, health conditions, or safeguarding concerns.
Local authorities hold statutory duties to ensure every child receives suitable education. This responsibility applies across community schools, foundation schools, free schools, and other state schools. Pressure increases as attendance issues, exclusions, and gaps in provision continue to grow in recent years.
Children’s services and children’s social care teams often support pupils who require a different approach. These cases demand flexible provision, clear monitoring, and strong partnership between schools, councils, and education providers.
Nisai supports schools and local authorities by delivering structured online education that fits within your existing system and responsibilities.
In partnership with schools and local authorities, Nisai provides a flexible solution that allows students to enrol in as many or as few subjects as required. Whether supporting students with behavioural challenges, SEND, or medical conditions, this approach ensures we can cater to diverse needs while still delivering high-quality education. Our core (short courses) model includes a rolling programme, meaning students can start lessons the very next day if paperwork is received by 4:30 PM.
Nisai operates as a delivery partner within your current education framework. Schools, local authorities, and local education authority teams remain responsible for decisions, funding, and oversight. A typical process begins when a school, college, or relevant body identifies a pupil who cannot access mainstream education. Teachers, SENCOs, or support teams assess the situation and gather the required information.
The local authority reviews the case to ensure it meets statutory duties, funding criteria, and existing plans. This step reflects guidance set by government and education bodies.
Once approved, the referral moves to Nisai. Our team reviews the pupil’s needs, including any assessments, EHCP plans, or additional support requirements.
Provision begins quickly. In many cases, pupils start within days of referral. This speed helps schools and councils respond to local demand without delay.
Throughout the process, schools and local authorities maintain full visibility. Clear reporting supports monitoring, accountability, and ongoing review.
This provision supports a wide range of pupils across primary, secondary, and further education settings.
Many learners have special educational needs or disabilities and require a structured environment that reflects their individual plans. Others face barriers linked to health, communication difficulties, or emotional needs.
Children supported by local government services, including those in children’s social care, often require consistent access to education outside traditional school settings.
Persistent absence also remains a key issue. Some pupils struggle with school attendance due to anxiety, exclusion, or unmet needs. Flexible online provision allows them to re-engage with education in a safe and controlled environment.
Families, parents, and support teams benefit from a clear and reliable system. This ensures each child receives appropriate education while maintaining alignment with statutory responsibilities.
Once a pupil is enrolled, Nisai delivers a structured, personalised learning experience that supports both academic progress and personal development. We recognise the diverse needs of students, particularly those who face challenges in mainstream education. That’s why we offer a 10-week rolling programme in core subjects, English, maths, and science, designed to provide flexible, high-quality education that can be tailored to each student’s unique situation.
Our core (short courses) allow students to enrol quickly, with the ability to start their lessons the very next day once paperwork is submitted by 4:30 PM. This makes it easy for schools and local authorities to respond to urgent educational needs without delay. Whether a student needs immediate support due to behavioural challenges, SEND, or medical reasons, our swift enrolment process ensures no time is wasted.
At Nisai, we understand that every student has different learning needs. Our online learning platform allows students to study as many or as few subjects as they need, providing a personalised education that fits their individual requirements. Whether a pupil is tackling a full course load or focusing on specific areas of development, we offer the flexibility to meet them where they are.
Effective provision leads to measurable improvement.
Attendance often increases as pupils engage with a structured and supportive environment. This directly supports local authority responsibilities around school attendance and access to education.
Many pupils progress into further education, training, or employment. Others reintegrate into mainstream school once they are ready.
Academic outcomes reflect recognised qualifications aligned with national standards. This supports long-term progression and future opportunities.
Schools and councils report improved engagement, reduced absence, and better overall outcomes for children and young people.
These results help local authorities meet statutory duties, manage resources effectively, and respond to growing demand across their area.
Local authorities operate under clear legal frameworks set by government and legislation. Duties include ensuring access to suitable education for all children, including those unable to attend school.
Nisai supports these responsibilities by providing a reliable and structured form of alternative provision. This aligns with expectations set by the Department for Education and other national bodies.
Provision supports compliance with the Children and Families Act, SEND guidance, and wider education policy across England.
Clear reporting and monitoring allow schools and local authorities to maintain oversight. This ensures accountability across funding, progress, and outcomes.
This structured approach helps councils, schools, and education teams meet their responsibilities while maintaining quality and consistency.
A Nisai Online Learning Zone is a dedicated area within your school where students access live online lessons, mentoring, and support from trained staff. The Zone acts as a bridge between classroom learning and personalised provision, offering a supportive learning environment for students who need a different approach to remain engaged.
This model benefits students who struggle with noise, pace, behaviour expectations, or transitions in a traditional teaching approach. It also supports reintegration, attendance improvement, and prevention of exclusion.
Flexi-schooling is a hybrid learning approach where your child spends part of their time in a traditional school setting and the rest learning from home. This is different from supplementary education, where students attend school full-time and study additional subjects at home in their spare time.
With online homeschooling courses from Nisai, you can create a personalised education pathway that truly supports your child’s learning needs through a flexi-schooling approach. This model blends the structure and flexibility of home education with the social and collaborative benefits of mainstream schooling.
There are many reasons why a conventional school environment might not fully suit your child, and flexi-schooling offers a solution that’s gaining popularity among parents. Whether it’s to support a specific learning style, accommodate health needs, or pursue interests beyond the standard curriculum, flexi-schooling with Nisai provides the flexibility to tailor education to your child’s strengths and goals.
Nisai’s online courses can also enhance mainstream education by offering a broader selection of subjects, including those not typically available in schools. So if your child is eager to explore new areas of learning or deepen their knowledge in a particular field, Nisai is here to help make that possible.
We offer a flexible, results-driven approach to education, with a range of benefits that cater to a variety of student needs.
We understand that every family’s situation is different, which is why we offer a variety of payment plans. Speak to us today to find out more.
Getting started with Nisai is quick and easy, especially with our core short courses. With the flexibility to start the next day, students can access English, maths, and science courses almost immediately upon referral, ensuring no student has to wait for education to begin.
Getting started involves a clear and structured process. Initial discussions focus on your requirements, current challenges, and the needs of your pupils. This allows the right provision to be defined from the outset. Referral details follow, including relevant assessments, plans, and background information. This ensures each pupil receives suitable support from the start.
Once approved, provision begins quickly. Pupils receive access to lessons, resources, and support without unnecessary delay.
Ongoing communication keeps schools, local authorities, and support teams informed at every stage.
Nisai Education Trust will support the recently awarded research grant, a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Nisai Group with Staffordshire University, awarded by UK Research & Innovation (UKRI).
The Staffordshire University team, including Dr Charlotte Fearn, who will be embedded within Nisai, will work with us to apply academic knowledge and critical understanding of the ongoing disruption to children’s progress as part of the long-term fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. We know that a significant number of schools and families are continuing to experience real issues in terms of children’s low attendance, poor engagement, and rejection of the formal education system. Key to the success of the project will be involving those children, schools and families in the research and service design.
Dr Jim Pugh, Director of the Institute of Education at Staffordshire University, said:
‘We have a track record of research and evaluation projects which fall within the realm of widening access and participation to education, and which align strongly to the projects aims and outcomes. Staffordshire University is really excited to be involved in this project as it presents a novel research and development challenge, developing cutting-edge digital approaches to learning and teaching for the compulsory sector.’
The 2.5-year project will find out more about how we can best use non-traditional education to ensure that all children get access to high-quality education. It will then develop innovative services that will enable children and young people to stay engaged in the education process – gaining the outcomes they need and deserve in a rapidly changing economic and technological environment.
Dhruv Patel, Founder and CEO of Nisai Group, commented: ‘In an education landscape revolutionised by digital technology, we must ensure that we meet the moral and economic imperatives to ensure equitable access to quality education for every learner, regardless of learning need, age, background or socio-economic status. This project is proof of both organisations’ passion for and commitment to that cause!’
As research findings emerge from the project, they will be published through both the University and the Nisai Education Trust website.

Schools identify a pupil who cannot access mainstream education and gather relevant information such as assessments, EHCP plans, and attendance history. The referral usually goes through the local authority or local education authority for approval. Once approved, Nisai receives the referral and prepares provision quickly so the pupil can begin learning without delay.
Local authorities can refer pupils directly where they hold responsibility for provision. This often applies in cases linked to children’s services, children’s social care, or where statutory duties require immediate access to education. Nisai works with councils to ensure the placement aligns with funding, legislation, and existing plans.
Online provision supports children and young people who cannot attend school due to special educational needs, disabilities, health conditions, or behavioural challenges. It also supports pupils with low attendance, those at risk of exclusion, and learners who require flexible access to education.
Our core (short courses) allow students to enrol quickly, with the ability to start their lessons the very next day once paperwork is submitted by 4:30 PM. This makes it easy for schools and local authorities to respond to urgent educational needs without delay.
Nisai supports pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. Provision aligns with identified needs, including specialist support for learning difficulties, communication needs, and additional requirements linked to disabilities or health conditions.
Nisai provides regular reporting on attendance, engagement, and academic progress. Schools and local authorities receive clear updates, which support monitoring, accountability, and ongoing decision-making.
Many pupils return to mainstream education once they are ready. Structured support, improved attendance, and increased confidence help pupils prepare for reintegration or progression into further education.
Pupils study core subjects such as GCSE English and maths alongside a wider range of GCSE subjects and further education courses. All provision aligns with recognised qualifications and national education standards.
Nisai provides structured education provision that supports local authorities and schools in meeting their legal responsibilities. This includes ensuring access to suitable education for children who cannot attend school, in line with government guidance and legislation.
